Symptoms we diagnose

What’s your AC doing — or not doing?

If you’re seeing any of these, we’ve diagnosed it hundreds of times across Hudson County brownstones, condos, and high-rises.

Won’t turn on

Tripped breaker, blown capacitor, failed thermostat, or control board. We isolate the cause before quoting any parts.

Blowing warm air

Low refrigerant, frozen evaporator coil, dirty filter, or failing compressor. Often a same-day fix once we’ve diagnosed it.

Strange noises

Loose parts, worn bearings, refrigerant hiss, or ductwork issues. We’ll listen, locate, and tell you what it actually means.

Leaking water

Clogged condensate drain, ice buildup on the coil, or a failed condensate pump. Quick to find, usually quick to fix.

Short cycling

System turns on and off rapidly. Usually thermostat placement, oversized unit, or low refrigerant — sometimes a sign of install issues.

Tripping breaker

Short in the compressor, dirty condenser, loose wiring, or undersized circuit. Worth fixing carefully — this is the failure mode that damages systems.

How a repair visit works

Diagnose first. Quote next. Then fix.

We don’t guess at repairs — and we don’t do work you didn’t approve. Here’s the same process for every call.

01

Phone triage

We ask what the system’s doing, what brand and age, and whether it’s a true emergency — before we send a truck. Saves you a trip fee on simple fixes.

02

On-site diagnostic

Full system check — refrigerant, electrical, airflow, drainage, controls. We look past the obvious symptom to make sure we catch the actual cause.

03

Honest quote

Parts, labor, and your options written down before any work starts. If repair vs. replace is close, we’ll tell you that too — in plain numbers.

04

Fix & verify

We repair, test the full cycle, and explain what we did. Clean up after ourselves. Most jobs get a workmanship warranty on top of the part warranty.

What affects the cost

AC repair pricing isn’t one number — it depends on what’s broken, what it takes to reach it, and what parts the system needs.

01

System type & age

A capacitor on a 5-year-old central AC is a different job than a control board on a 12-year-old ductless head. Older systems sometimes need discontinued parts sourced.

02

Parts, refrigerant & access

Refrigerant type matters — R-22 is phased out and expensive. Rooftop or high-rise condenser units may need lift access or building coordination, which adds time.

03

Brand & warranty status

Many newer systems still have manufacturer warranty on the parts — you only pay labor. We check warranty status before we quote so you don’t double-pay.

No fixed online prices — that’s a sign of contractors who upsell. We diagnose, then quote. Call 201-245-5151 for a real conversation.

Quick answers

Common questions about AC repair.

There’s a service-call fee for the diagnostic visit — it covers the trip out and the time to actually figure out what’s wrong. If you approve the repair, that fee typically gets credited toward the job. We’ll tell you the number on the phone before scheduling.
Phones answered 24/7. We’ll tell you straight on the call what to expect based on the situation, your location, and how booked the day is — no fake “60-minute guarantees.” True emergencies get prioritized.
All major brands — Fujitsu, York, Coleman, Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Bryant, Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric, LG, Goodman, American Standard, Friedrich PTAC, and others. If you can find a model number, we can almost certainly source parts.
No. If repair is the right call we’ll say so — even on older systems. We tell you both numbers and let you decide. Common red flag from other shops: a $400 repair quoted as a $9,000 replacement. We don’t do that.
We work on Hudson County high-rises and condo buildings every week — rooftop AC, PTAC, and water-source heat pumps. We coordinate with building management for access, freight elevators, and after-hours work when needed.
Yes. Parts carry the manufacturer warranty (typically 1–5 years depending on part and brand), and most repairs carry our workmanship warranty on top of that. We’ll tell you the specifics on your invoice.
