Our electric, tankless water heater stopped working and Tanous came out the next day to determine the issue. Given our unit was 11 years old, they recommended we replace instead of attempting to repair. Within a few days, Carlos came out to site and replaced our old water heater. The entire process took about 3 hours (including hauling the units up/down 5 flights of stairs) and everything is now working great! Carlos was kind, courteous, and also provided general information on how frequently to service our new heater. We plan to have Carlos back to service our AHU/Condenser!

I have had nothing but positive experiences with Tanous. I have been using them for maintenance on my HVAC units for a few years and recently needed to replace two of the units in my apartment. Chris, who handles communication and logistics is organized, quick to respond and very friendly. Tanous replaced our 15yr old furnace + A/C system last year. Owner came out to do the estimate. I got 2 other estimates and Tanous was the most reasonable. They were able to assemble & install the rooftop A/C unit without needing a crane which was great. It was a replacement system and so installation was straightforward and took 1 day and they hauled away the old system.10 months after the install (2wks ago), the furnace suddenly stopped working. I texted Tanous and they responded right away and fixed the issue, without charge, immediately.

I’ve had the fortune to learn about Tanous 6 years ago from a neighbor who used them to replace an entire HVAC system. Since then, I’ve used Tanous multiple times to resolve HVAC issues in my condos, ranging from small lowrise buildings with in-unit central HVACs to a large high-rise building with geothermal heat pumps.Just last week, 2 condos’ HVACs stopped blowing heat and Chris at Tanous scheduled their technician Jonny to come diagnose the problem the very next day. Jonny identified the malfunctions: the expansion valve in the Trane commercial heat pump in my high-rise condo and the gas valve in the residential Goodman unit in my low-rise. With the Trane, being a commercial unit, parts are difficult to obtain yet Jonny was able to order one and come back on Monday President’s day. To my delight, upon dismantling the unit Jonny found he could instead replace and repair a small part of, instead of replacing the entire, expansion valve. That cut the cost in half, and I only found out then that Jonny had suspected a possible repair and brought the small part with him just in case. For the Goodman unit, Jonny took the same approach – instead of immediately replacing the gas valve he managed to fix it, and again halved the cost of a complete replacement. Finally Jonny gave me great advice on the age of both units, their expected end-of-life and how I should consider the consequences between proactive, preventative replacements vs wait until further break-downs.This honesty, integrity and advice are exceedingly rare these days, and is why I am lucky to have found Tanous and people like Jonny and Chris who make up that great team.

I highly recommend this HVAC service company to ALL local Hoboken residents. My heating system stoped working during holidays, one company asked me $10k to replace the entire unit. I've worked with Tanous on a couple of HVAC projects in our home and they've been great! They're very responsive and their bids have always been reasonable (they've also never tried to up-charge after the fact and even done minor follow on work at no cost). I also appreciate their flexibility/creativity that comes with trying to make things work in small urban spaces. When our AC failed in the height of summer in Hoboken we contacted a few vendors. We were given a wide range of prices and delivery dates. We contacted Tanous based on a recommendation and their quote, choice of equipment and warranty was extremely competitive. They showed up on time, were professional and courteous and when we hit an issue with the installation, we were able to quickly resolve it with Mike the owner. They charged exactly what they quoted. Everything you should expect from a vendor but these days hard to find.

I wanted to have AC installed in my home, I had window units and over the summer it got too hot.I had 4 companies visit my home, all of them offered various solution to my needs, all of them sounded complicated, expensive and not what I wanted. Then a good friend of mine recommended Tanous to me, he had used them and was extremely happy, so I thought I'll give them a try. After a couple of days Michael the owner of the company came to my home, and he immediately offered me a smart and reasonable solution, with a superior product at a better price than the other 4 companies from before. I could also tell that Michael was very knowledgable in the field and trustworthy. The coming week they installed my system, they did a great job communicating throughout, the installation was clean, and professional, the technicians were considerate and cleaned everything after themselves, they offered good solutions to cosmetic challenges that came up, and everything was completed to my 100% satisfaction, I will most defiantly use Tanous again for whatever comes up.By far the best experience I had with any sort of professional service/contractor throughout my home ownership.

Mike has helped me out on 2 occasions one being a complex heating base board, boiler and thermostat install right before the winter and another with maintenance of my AC in spring. At both times i was desperate and both times Mike and team came through. The heating services mentioned were performed perfectly only to find a defective boiler owing to a manufacturer defect. Mike rectified it by getting a boiler out of pocket. The second time he helped me out was right before my child was due.
